AFWA Denver

About Us

The Accounting & Financial Women's Alliance (AFWA) (formerly American Society of Women Accountants or ASWA) was formed in 1938 to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance.

Members of the AFWA and their companies benefit from practical resources and benefit programs that strengthen their professional growth.

Our members tap into an extensive knowledge base of accounting and finance professionals with technical expertise providing solutions for the most complex issues. AFWA members communicate both virtually and in-person through national and regional conferences, chapter meetings, community service events, volunteer opportunities, and socials. Many of our members have attained professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, and CFP.

The mission of the AFWA is to enable women in all accounting and related fields to achieve their full personal, professional, and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession.

The Denver chapter, one of AFWA's largest, with more than 40 members, not only connects those in accounting and finance in the Denver area to the national organization's activities but is also very active locally.

We hold regular meetings with up to 10 hours of  Continuing Professional Education (CPE) annually, plus an annual regional conference offering 16 hours of CPE, scholarships for students pursuing accounting and finance degrees, and many other benefits.
